The Astrology Of September 2025: Slippery Knots

September starts getting into the technical, mechanical, logistical and systematic minutia of this larger scale shift from the last 15-20 years into the next 15-20 years of the world and our lives. We are entering eclipse season, the time when the plot goes into fast forward a bit and we are ushered quickly into that which is manifesting and are witness to that which is rapidly deteriorating or fading away. The overall theme we might say is reduction of friction, removal of redundancy, de-complexification, logistical loosening, component extraction on one end and striving for smoothness, flow, immersion, and trusting the plunge on the other. It’s a turn towards streamlining where things can be much less scripted and much more improvised. The issue is, the plot we are currently existing in is still subject to the script, with directors and producers and actors expecting us to repeat certain lines and rely on specific devices to move the plot forward. The performance of this drama might also have been going on for the last decade or two in one form or another and watching ourselves act it out can more than verge on robotic.

Particular moments of September appear to be when we finally get around to pulling out certain pins in the apparatus which allow for decoupling of parts of a machine which used to feel like one giant system, seeing the multiple portions begin to head off on diverging tracks and drift away from each other in different directions. This Virgo-Pisces eclipse series is currently midstream, but seeing as how it comes together in September to interact with the outer planets now lingering in their new positions of dynamic and initiatory diurnal signs, we’ve seen the flash of light and heard the fireworks which signaled future energetics, having illuminated and revealed exactly which things need to be extracted from our personal engineering to allow us to unbind and be carried into our next existences. This may not be a dramatic chop job to whole story swathes or life-limbs, but rather a surgical amputation of a small part which allows for a total re-articulation and re-assignment of process.

Wilfred Avery (as well as above)
Our Daimons informed us early to mid August awakened what we truly resonate with and live for while conjoined Jupiter and Venus let us drink from the well which quenches our thirsts and assures this living can survive and be carried forth. These embodied realizations are what we needed to understand to be able to clearly identify the slender pin which when pulled enables the decoupling from our past bindings. The future so nourishing and sweet is of the essence of life itself and there is only certain ambrosias which can water this future’s seeds. The contrasts become obvious, and what clutter to shake off so we may move fluidly into the field outside of a blinders-worn track sends our hands searching for the fasteners to unwind and shed. We can’t be blocked out from the magic place, our own incarnated energy, life itself, the divine essence. In this incoming story that won’t do. Saturn will be prepared to secure stability again in a very real way once he reaches Taurus in 2028, but until then his messages have more to do with letting go and starting anew. He’s returning to Pisces on September 1st (until February 13th 2026) to obligate us to let go and release more of that which we had been clinging to, the safeties and control holds we neglected to un-tether during his main passage in Pisces March 2023 to May 2024. During that period we learned to strategize around feeling the flow of reality and formalizing a flow state for best success. Like sailing, you cannot control the weather and must wait for the appropriate conditions to arrive and raise your sails to voyage to your destination. If you can’t control the when than perhaps you can control the how: your discipline and fortitude is your seamanship, the rigor you bring towards a submission to reality and natures cycles, tides, and predictable chaos, gathering opportunities into sea-miles and safe passages. For that you have to be very in tune with sky and sea, or outside our metaphor, with the field itself. You have to employ ever immersive intuition and a bit of precognitive modeling.

Saturn is flashing back to this mode to un-moor us from whatever still binds us to outdated chronologies, looking kind of literal in the sequence of transits: planets have to oppose him at the last degrees of Virgo (where the South Node eclipse of shedding and purging is taking place) to enter Libra where they can oppose future positioned Neptune, hypnotized into the next fourteen years' archetypal dream sequence; trine Uranus, where they can harmonize with the next eight years radical shifts in paradigm; and trine Pluto, harmonizing with the precipice crossing pioneering off the map of known concepts altogether into the potentials of now until 2044. Mercury is the first to do this between the two eclipses and following his Superior Conjunction with the Sun where pertinent clues may be delivered to us in a lucid ah-ha moment. The Pisces eclipse comes first, almost as if the water breaks signaling an incoming birth, after which we go searching downstream for any potential snag in the inevitable process which could impede manifesting new life, reducing the possibility for anything getting hung up along the way. Both eclipses are quite progenitive, the former like a baby shower celebrating a divine child and the latter like the urgent instinct to sire; since they are in a sense in reverse order of the conception process we can think of them as applying instead to perpetual procreation, as if refining and spiritualizing that which we are seeding and fertilizing is dependent first on the flood of joyful song which summons the new-to-incarnate being from the void. This seems magical to say the least. Emoting something into being conceived, mobius-stripping something into existence. Indeed, with Saturn back to where he had been previously in the plot, magic we did, metaphorically or literally, over the last three years or longer may now be out-pouring forth and watering that which grows in our future in a kind of long-awaited feedback loop, when we may empathically sense that we first felt those feelings then because of what is about to happen next; like Terrance McKenna’s critique of the Big Bang— the singularity might be in the future pulling the present towards it rather than in the past propelling us onward— but weirder, as the future also is here conditioning the past as the past co-conditioning the future.

Bona de Mandiargues
The Pisces eclipse occurs with Jupiter and the Moon in mutual reception, sending a distinct dual flow of resource, coherence, intuition, and understanding of where to locate the fulfillment fountains we need to immerse ourselves in between Cancer and Pisces houses of our nativities. We can conceive of the divine chalice towards which we improvise with belief in libational fusion. The North node component can make this a drinking from the fire-hose scenario in some cases, but hopefully Jupiter’s exalted status here allows for the capacity to not drown in our drinks or disturb our cups as they fill. Mercury transitions to Libra before the Virgo eclipse he will rule, Venus following suit and ingressing Virgo the next day, meaning they are in mutual reception by the time the Sun gets bitten by shadow and we are compelled to strip away, reduce, shed, refine, purge and as previously discussed extract redundant components from our over-complicated processes and life operations. Since Mercury and Venus are sharing resources and have each other on the phone while residing in each other’s house assists in knitting together the concerns for relational equilibrium with logistical efficiency; making things less technical, formal, academic or over-engineered simultaneously allows for mutuality, artfulness, gracefulness, and charming effects.

Much of the current skies continually re-affirm the idea that the way to move with the shifts from our pasts into our futures are much facilitated by a stream-lining, less-is-best approach. Alertness, care, improvisation, and intuition offer us ability to glide on through to the next stage as we lighten our loads and release anything which holds us back. “The difference between what you want and what you need is what you can fit on a horse.” Sound advice, but maybe too spartan of a notion in this case. This isn’t a harshly minimal trek through a desert, its a moment when abundance is present at hand and the fountains tend to flow, which is quite lucky for a world in a state of radical transition. Proceed through the pleasure garden with a light load as what you need will be ambiently available along the way, but also don’t let your guard down and become naive believing the world is a purely benevolent place. Don’t picture total dystopia, but imagine your passage being one through verdancy and fruitfulness where also things simply are not always what they seem, tricksters abound, and conspiratorial corruption is the societal norm. Maybe this is more a jungle rather than a desert way. Flora and fauna are not in shortage, but things are on the prowl, so be aware. On the other side of this stretch is your dynamic and exhilarating future. For the time being settle in to the embodied experience of this hypnotic portal and find yourself there emerging into the buzz of next chapters by Spring 2026.

With Saturn moved back to Pisces the macro narrative may switch once again to naval threats, floods and boats crashing into bridges and such rather than sketchily started fires moving people around the game-board. Mars ingresses Scorpio late in the month, where he is incredibly potent, but on the. survival end of the spectrum. Our viscera maneuvers around our habitats stealthily as we wrestle with our affairs in a possibly tooth-and-nail/cloak-and-dagger sort of way. He right away comes into a square with Pluto, which can be the primal animals we are in narrative attention with a completely corrupted digital society that no one any longer wants except for the criminals running its nodes and their vassals benefiting off the scam-syndicate networks; the wilds, the feral versus the virtual control technocracy. In our personal life this could be our critical fight or flight impulses responding to what threatens our deepest, most hard wired instincts when grappling with progressive power moves and precipice jumping life-update pioneering.

Federico Castellón
The Sun will have swept opposite Neptune, and be trining Uranus and Pluto at the time, so our attention will be on 2025’s visitation of entirely new possibilities as potentials ignite and ideas shuffle. Venus squares Uranus a few days prior, so our desire to get things orderly has trouble being satisfied as ideas rupture and reorganize. Many moments, such as this, echo other moments from the previous months as well as foreshadow much of what the future has to offer. September stands in between and tracks backwards as well as forwards and casts lines every direction as much as it clips tethers to things that are more or less now dead weight. It’s our job as mediators of our own destinies to be appropriately stationed midway through our perpetual journeys and organize what we have aboard for the voyage of our life-vessel.

Bona de Mandiargues
Our itineraries need not be fixed but we may have particular destinations we must arrive at eventually If we can find a portal to our fate sooner rather than later we are free to glide along rather than hesitate and hold back, but if no short-cut presents itself, we take the gradual course at the pace the weather dictates, which if we focus on cultivation and regulation in the meanwhile, we may be actually assembling future forms quietly which float to the visible surface when the moment comes, needing no big announcement or fanfare to herald them. This is just reality being reality, without civilization's blow-out sales and one time only specials or limited time offers. Celebrate life itself and reorganize anything and everything around or attached to you which might impede or simply fail to facilitate living well, smoothly and gracefully, or if you procrastinate, by hook or by crook.

It’s worth lending some attention to mid-month, between the eclipses when Venus in Leo sextiles Mars in Libra before Mars opposes and Venus trines Chiron. The Moon will have just passed her waning square as well as going over the bends of the nodes, so even though this dance of Venus and Mars isn’t the most stand out aspect of the month there is some noticeable subjective territory here which could be worth unpacking. The lunar pivot of being compelled to immerse more fully or submerge unbridled in some ambiance turning towards casting off anything overly dry, itchy or bitchy coincides with desire to celebrate, play and warm the heart with fun romance and bold color collaborating with delicately navigating thorny relational equilibriums or cultural challenges spoken across spectrums to needs for integration in wherever we feel awkward or uncomfortable in independence, autonomy and ability to take direct action. These themes overlap with others amidst the overall time-frame, but it may be that in this instance there are particular hiccups, slips and irregular distributions which decorate events in peculiar light and excite strange sequences of juggling to re-balance odd upsets.

Albert Flocon
Thinking of all that you experience as one form of medicine or another, depending on whether it is to be absorbed, avoided or alchemized, may be worth minding through mid-month, as its not bad advice for eclipse season in general, when being more slow, steady and selective is advisable. Don’t burden yourself with excess gizmos; relax and feel into the field. Be mindful of the knots you tie (and untie), maybe come into the month touching up on the basic hitches, binds, loops and slips. You may want to avoid “tying a lot” as a replacement for not being able to tie a knot. The point is to loosen up, so check what is over-tensioned and can be safely eased without letting critical kit slip away into the void. In a very basic way this is a bit witchcraft like; just letting your hair down and disposing of your starch-stiff uniform is enough to get some nature-collaboration percolating— but going back to the jungle metaphor: not everything you meet in the forest is friendly.
