The Astrology of May 2025: Cinematic Action

I’ve written multiple times in forecasts now about the nexus of Japanese samurai films depicting ronin wandering around often isolated towns after the Japanese civil war in the declining final years of the Edo period and the spaghetti western films depicting western America at the conclusion of the American civil war. These heavily interconnected genres set their plots on either end of the world but during the same general time in history, meaning they are depicting an astrological moment playing out in different cultures simultaneously. Themes of corrupt authorities, exiled valor, polarized society, debased individuals and incoming industrialization all abound. Consistently portrayed is the degeneration of culture as an older order of governance is collapsing yet continuing on in its zombified state with consensus values and ethics having already fled the phalanx. Though there is variation in chronological specificity, the astrological moment they are speaking to is strongly analogous with the one we’re entering: Neptune in Aries along with Uranus in Gemini.

One such film is 1990’s Ronin Gai, in which a group of official shogunate retainers come to an Edo red light district town to wipe out the brothel at its center in a semi-clandestine series of night time murders around the surrounding woods. Dot Com was bubbling and paypal, ebay and so on was in a big build out, but for the average Joe, we all maybe checked our email at an internet cafe once a month, spending most of the time running around in a fully saturated IRL. We might see some parallels of this for the next three-ish years. AI bubble and bust while in the background the new totally crazy internet/s is/are being built while most of us are too busy living life to notice much whats going on digitally and we're all too sick of the zombie-internet to be online very much anyway.

This may hit with a bit of discomfort, but also it makes the projects parameters more clear. We seem to be going for how to gain meaningful abundance and quench our thirst for fellowship as well as psychological health in a world which has become more safe but less free about to become perhaps less safe but more free once again. As we deem these injurious elements of our society as “unsafe” we more and more leave their security, and likely find out that we are not supposed to do that, in which conflict ensues. It may not necessarily be violent, but it will likely not be a smooth migration away from the many assistances and conveniences which assault us ongoingly as operational aids.
