The Astrology Of July 2025: Uppers Over Downers

Today is American Independence Day, and coincidentally Neptune stations retrograde in Aries, which implies that at this moment the collective dream of individuality and autonomy is turning tide. The mythology of being capable, effective and taking direct action which has been infusing our imaginations with archetypal signifiers over the past few months has reached a kind of contemporary limit point and begins the process of washing back over the plot’s subthemata like a long exhale between two very different inhalations. What is being loosened and released in this outward breath of high saturation blending of the real with the unreal is likely the first phase of mythic emergence of your individual archetype which you will come to lace yourself with as a function of being more skilled and formidable a contender than you have previously been capable of. We’re talking here about post-digital, analog, consciously-aware, in tact, flesh in blood avatar; your own self strategizing more than human self that needs no virtual expression. Self-mythologization then becomes a hard-core strategy-bound spine of the system which we are obligated to construct if we are to wake up to the contemporary moment and find ourselves hitting real life bulls-eyes as they present themself rather than shooting stray bullets, which suddenly have IRL consequences. We’ve realized this somewhat in the last big inhale of the new performance-enhancing-drug we’re all turning onto, but this current exhale takes another breath soon of the last 14 years more amorphous, escapist, sedating substance. Essentially we’re dancing between uppers (IRL) and downers (online) in 2025 and that is highlighted today and throughout much of July.

Venus enters Gemini today also after conjoining Uranus in the final degree of Taurus. His monumentous ingress into squirrelly, mercurial Gemini goes down on the 7th, but Venus’ ingress on the 4th foreshadows that upcoming 8ish years of revolutionizing data and disturbing telecommunications and radically frankensteining everything multiplicitous and fractalized by peaking our curiosity and encouraging an, innocently seeming enough, love of variety. Why enjoy one when you can enjoy many at the same time? It feels pleasurable to flutter from idea to idea and cross pollinate across multiple concepts and exchange aesthetics but before we know it our creative and romantic inclinations to juggle this and that at once trigger a high voltage hyper shuffling which hot-rods our communications and breaks open turbulent data explosions. The South Node in this eclipse cycle is busy compelling us to remove redundancy and friction from processes and operations while the North Node is pushing to manifest a more immersive and empathic flow state. We might call this another version of interplay between fidelity and saturation, in this case less detail intensity and more hypnotic blending. That the South Node and Mars in July are ruled by Mercury, who is also presiding over Venus and Uranus’ business, while Mercury is going to station retrograde mid month in Leo emphasizes how much reversal, review, do-overs, corrections, false starts, and foul balls will require retrieving throughout the weeks. This makes sense, as if we are about to get explosively reshuffled, (and potentially love it), and big tidal breaths which distinctly divide eras of existence are underway, then we need to let go and release a lot of things for big new stories to seat within our lives. It seems as though that which gets removed may be caught up in logistical nuances, and now we go about re-engineering our destinies. The crux of the matter being: what do our Daimons resonate with in the contemporary moment of 2025, no longer drunk on nostalgia? What does our centrally intelligent consciously aware spirit-minds have our bodies energetically incarnated for? What is our life purpose? What were we born to be and to do?

It is this most central, spiritual impulse that decides how we re-wire ourselves, which is brain scrambling and requires us to pioneer beyond the precipice. Interesting that Uranus’ ingress is both sextile to Saturn-Neptune in Aries as well as trine to Pluto In Aquarius. There is much potentiated here, much which is in sync for this moment to have subtle, collaborative synergy, although, it might not be screaming out to us, as it’s not necessarily identifying itself via crisis. Although, we can work our way around the various tension points and feel where game pieces are and what their functions might be to get some tactical feelers in tune to the times. Jupiter’s recent square to Saturn probably lit up some alarms. We are aware we want our lives to grow much more fulfilling than they currently are over the next year— but this likely requires some sort of flying solo which initiates an obstacle course endurance test under self-hypnosis to be successful, both directly in the moment and over time along the chronology.

Certainly each period sees an influx of new ideas and philosophies, and sees them rapidly change and mutate. Personally, I have my eye on superconductivity in the upcoming stretch which will allow for quantum computing as well as massive energy efficiency shifts effecting everything in our society, dimensions of note being transportation and the medical industry, maybe teleportation. Many of these themes are already set up, but the new things to arrive and the way things change are sure to be surprising, as a rule.

This round in 2025 as noted is accompanied by multiple outer planet shifts within a tight space of time, and is only five years into the official full Air triplicity period. We are clearly migrating beyond the degenerating (enshitified) era of digital feudalism not sure where we are headed. Political theater has gone beyond its own parameters into a hypno-regime of constant dis-regulating disorientation of aggressive unreality. Obviously AI integration and whatever its going to do and not do and whatever that means and doesn’t mean. The bifurcation between the online world and the analog world and a struggle to return to animal-in-habitat type nervous system dispositions. The blank slate state of having subcultures entirely wiped out as they have become commodified and distributed to the masses, so fluff goes up into visibility and depth goes down into obscurity but no other meaningful organization seems to take place, we are left wondering where the liminal margins to co-create might be. With this comes the vacuum of exhibition appropriateness and the social implications of torn cultural connectivity. Obvious cost and resource disparities. The mass disturbance which was the covid and lockdown era and how we’re physically and psychologically bruised from that still sitting relatively unprocessed or undigested. The surveillance dominant and what that means for social/cultural decentralized policing and contemporary moral values. The abundance of anthropocentric extremism as managerial modification interventions across ecosystems of all kinds. Medical Science being perhaps the final Enlightenment aged academic discipline to cling desperately to Rational Materialism. A world of splintering narratives that take precedent over ontological navigation as cognition gets increasingly outsourced. I could go on, and you can too, and you should maybe go through the exercise of describing the moment to yourself by articulation rather than meme or tweet; there’s a lot to point to and list which begins to describe our moment. The fun part is that its all of these identifiable threads that Uranus is about to start shuffling and scrambling and throwing in the strobe sequencer.
