The Astrology Of August 2025: Hyper Faceted

August is an odd turn in 2025’s odd turning, displaying a different facet of the strange diamond which plots to be our future. Did you experience a plot twist or embark on some brief yet all consuming side story amidst late July’s New Moon in Leo? Well, it’s likely that was not exactly a narrative detour but instead a possible flash forward of things to come. August is the period of the year which rolls on as story to ride with in the context of the Leo New Moon’s particular twilit dusk like a time released sunrise, unfurling flags which were not those we might have expected to be on the poles, but once released for all to see lead to much discussion and debate over why and who is saluting them or not. True colors run, and the dye baths which lead to figures and impressions spilled across pages and high saturation scenarios splattered into compelling illustrations characterize August’s ambiance.

We all know spring 2026 is when we can see the full fledged new era off and running as all the outer planets will have concluded their retrogrades back into the signs from whence they came scheduled for this upcoming fall and winter. Although, as August begins with Mercury retrograde still cazimi and allowing for uncoverings of particular insights which resonate with what your consciously aware spirit-mind strives to express from the core of your incarnated being, it may be a suitable moment to pause and reflect; what is different now compared to last year, or even to the past decade plus? Mid-Summer 2025, what is particularly different about your life, your disposition, your desires, your thoughts, your outlook, your goals? If you are truly honest with yourself, what can pick up on and begin to discern what it might mean for which way you are motivated to move forward with or rally around? Motivation is a key word here; we often do things we are not motivated to, but if you reach towards what you are excited for, energized to experience, what do you find? I doubt many people would say last year is identical or at least simply a progression from then to now. If that is the case, peer into the nuances; what unique threads vibrate in this moment which were absent a year prior?

We may find this August that the truly authentic self is not proficient at politely keeping the peace. Paradoxical ideas explode onto the scene as honest communication emerges. Similar to how surrealism is ironically often more real than realism, the truth in pure unadulterated signal is more non-rational and non-linear than what we’d expect. There is typically not straight forward reasons for things, at least in a status quo conformed or anthropocentric perspective. The heart is not rational. As we indulge in what we need to grow people will get offended and diplomatic episodes may come up against independent realities. This is a challenge to collective consideration, but also compliments the decentralizing power dynamics of our era. We have largely, via digital reliance, become all more alien to one another than we historically have been before. Despite technological connectivity, here in August the divide swells as the heart lights up and emanates. We’re on a trajectory of finding ourselves again, in open ended goose chases akin to the existentialism present in the christian period aftermath. This may be most acute for those too young to remember significant anything prior to covid; meaning is illusive and the virtual void gasps like some vast maw. It seems as though analog reality is re-emerging, like it or not, as virtual vampirism is all thats left for us in our computational and communications utilities. Some might be choosing to step away from screens and analog driven experiences while others might simply have to fill in the blanks facing degraded reception and full on black outs.

The start of the month references the square arrangement between Saturn and Neptune taking up shop in Aries versus Venus sharing space with Jupiter in Cancer. We desire profound fulfillment, to feel safe and comfortable so as to drink from the cup of life, to sup at the table of reality’s bounty, to recognize the divine resources existence has to offer and enjoy ourselves in this thirst quenching incarnation which has so much to offer physically and psychologically; it would be a shame to not partake. Although, we know there is a challenge afoot. We can’t just drift, float errantly downstream to whatever fate might be awaiting us in our learned passivity. We’ve been conditioned to over-relax, after so many years of so many what’s-the-points in this panopticonic, post-everything maelstrom. This flaccidity is no longer appropriate, and the edges of our perception are picking up on mythological modulations which beg our scope dilate to include new information even if it's currently undefinable. We’re getting spoken to by archetypes that communicate in energetic cues directly to our daimons. Something is happening, we can feel it even though there’s no words for it; it’s a certain kind of buzz that vibrates us into alertness, we don’t want to miss the next step of the sequence. So, we can’t completely go limp, accuracy has become a demand within the slipping through the eye of the needle in an obstacle course of languid opportunities driving us out of doom towards an empowered future that exists on the other side of some refining maneuvers. On August 1st our animal instincts kick in, and from our primal programming we sense our needs from our viscera, which signal to us clues as we re-orient ourselves to our most central concerns.

About a week into the month Mars enters Libra, opposes Saturn then Neptune amidst a Full Moon in the most exiling degrees of Aquarius. We might test our skills of diplomacy as relational, cultural and social conflicts erupt and with the sword of justice in hand we wrestle equilibriums into fairness in full view of non-negotiable, independent prerogatives. Steeped in visions of how much more capable we’d be if we weren’t interconnected with whatever other’s we are associated with, we escape oppressive entanglements to pioneer in fresh mental territory, elsewhere, way out on a limb. We get some fresh air way up in this proverbial tree but likely don’t find little company there. General camaraderie cessation ensues except amongst other alien species we meet separating themselves from whatever home-world they came from. In this idea stirring and concept encouraging bardo thoughts run rampant and mental pandoras’ boxes open, giving us plenty to intellectually untangle. We might take the astrological advise to be zen of mind, but most will forget this in the hour of deafening, white noise which is the intellectual sand storm of brightest Aquarian light. In the mind bending oscillation of you-vs-them balances in vigorous swing, as ideas swarm, something mentally corrects, and a very future forward intellectual and energetic pattern takes shape. The macro future is unknowable, only a technological vastness of exponential potential as well as probable societal degradation which allows or disallows each and every plethora of possibilities on the personal as well as global scale. What we don’t know both can and can’t hurt us simultaneously, so we have to be ready to defend against anything that will or will not happen, meaning our tactics need to be at ready, as the entire card deck of concepts is getting constantly shuffled in full Air Period fashion. Tomorrow is not yesterday and there is only today in an ongoing chain of sun ups and downs so this version of living for the moment has ‘nothing to rely on except ourselves’ written all over it. We don’t know what we don’t know and all sources of knowing except first hand are thoroughly corrupted, so we are in a Schrödinger's cat booby trap world of remixing information through which we obstacle course ourselves toward fulfilling existences. Is our age Light or Dark? It seems its largely up to us and relies on keen decisions and the actions we choose to take weaving a coherent feedback loop. That’s head-spinning but not necessarily bad. Mental stimulation is on high and in the aftermath of the very, very interesting episode of being out in the strong breeze with nothing but our thoughts we return to the table of life’s most delectable goodies and partake in succulent delicacies which expand our horizons. It may be that if we didn’t interrupt the cultural, social and relational programming and get thrown into mental no-man’s-land we wouldn’t have seen the writing on the wall as well as wouldn’t have even noticed the buffet hidden in plain sight. Leading up to the New Moon in Virgo late in the month we have Saturn sextile Uranus, Venus conjunct Jupiter and Mercury sextile Mars. Things are moving along in an assisted manner having been almost force-downloaded with conceptual updates the previous week. You’d like to think we’d do a kind of if-it ain’t-broke-then-don’t-fix-it kind of thing here but the opposite seems to be the case. The mental lucidity and abundance of comfort seems to equal us feeling willing to take risks, attempting to fine tune something which is already running better than it used to which catalyzes a-bazillion revolutionary ideas of how we can re-engineer everything. This brings us to the conclusion of the month where Venus enters Leo and does the now familiar thing where she trines Saturn and Neptune, sextiles Uranus but opposes Pluto. This is the imprint of the future field for the next long while. We’ve got ourselves into a kind of digital dark ages, and we have to dream-real about taking care of ourselves and skilling up on our own energetic dime as no one is coming to save us. Time to rearrange your thinking about everything, but keep that rearranging rolling indefinitely as nothing will be what it seems for years to come. Center yourself to contend with all this. In fact, be self-centered, and love it. You are in fact the center of the universe. Obviously, I don’t mean this in an ego-psycho megalomaniacal way, but, when the collective is so hyper polluted and the networks which connect the global ‘us’ all together are literally everyone’s enemy, the spirit and energy which resides in you and makes your flesh, blood and bones sacred is in fact a pleasurable gateway to a world worth celebrating. If you don’t know how to enjoy yourself, you won’t understand how to align with nature, reality, humanity and have an ability to use value and quality as a lens to see what is righteous in the external. We learn here how to creatively express against the phalanx of surveillance and imposter hordes. Breaking it down begins within, and persisting in heart leads the way. The pressure will always be to get you to care more about something external, abstract and distant more than your own life and that which is near to it, but here is the place to pivot and flip that script. We might begin with regulating ourselves and aligning with our purpose, and then see how everything from in reach to far-flung feel from there.
